A Few Words About Who we are
At Callanish Capital, we have decided to focus on a small number of high net worth families so that we can provide a highly bespoke and multi-jurisdictional service.
Given the alignment of interests, we are fully focused on providing exceptional client service whilst also generating excellent investment outcomes. These are our priorities rather than being focused on maximising EBITDA or distracted by dressing the business up for sale like so many current industry incumbents.
As we are managing a limited number of families’ investments, it gives us a lot more flexibility and options surrounding portfolio composition. This can be contrasted to larger wealth managers who are limited in terms of how much they can hold of an underlying fund which substantially limits the available investment universe. This allows us to be nimble and benefits our clients through speed of execution – we are able to implement investment decisions quickly as we have far more efficient investment decision making processes (through a lack of bureaucracy whilst still maintaining a strong governance structure).
One of our objectives in setting up the business was to utilise technology to enable us to work smarter and this, in turn, results in a better client service. Furthermore, Callanish Capital has been set up a with a very light footprint which results in a lower break-even level of assets under management. As the outsourcing has focused on commoditised and labour-intensive areas of the operating model, such as operations, IT, human resources – this means that we have pure focus on servicing clients and investment selection. It also means that we have a best of breed and very robust platform.
We benefit from the economies of scale of the biggest providers who provide various parts of our platform, and this should provide an added layer of comfort to clients using our services.
As a team, we have an extensive wealth of experience ranging from legal and tax to investment management. We have also been intimately involved with the management of investments and companies – spanning from private ownership, public companies and private equity.
As Callanish Capital focuses solely on helping families and private clients, we can assist with liaisons with other third-party professional services in a cost-effective manner taking on the role as a middleman. The founders collectively have in excess of 50 years’ experience and have worked together for almost the entirety of their careers. Callanish Capital has a flexible growth strategy that will be shaped by the developing requirements of our clients – not of the profit driven motives of external shareholders or private equity backers.
